Advanced Settings:
Depending on your Operating Mode choice, there may be some further settings
that have to be specified. Click the Port Config button to get back to the Port
Configuration screen (see page 35), then click Advanced Settings.
Operating Modes that require advanced settings include: Console
Management; TCP Client; UDP Mode; and Modbus. Refer to the sections,
below for an explanation of the advanced settings dialog boxes that appear.
Console Management
The Port Alert Settings dialog box provides a way for you to be informed
about problems that occur on the devices connected to the SN3101's ports.
When a device has a problem – such as a critical error that requires a
reboot, or an SNMP Trap event has been triggered – debug messages can
be sent through its serial port to the SN3101’s COM port.
When the SN3101 receives such a message, it can send an SNMP Trap
alert and/or an email to inform the user specified here of the problem. You
can specify up to 10 types of alerts.
